I purchased a piece of software on behalf of a company i used

Resolved Question:

I purchased a piece of software on behalf of a company i used to work for. the software is serviceCEO. I was manager in that company and the software was being paid form companies bank account. The payments were broken down as monthly payments for a period of 6 months. I left the company 3 months ago and the company has been sold to another owner since then. Now the accounting department from ServiceCEO is contacting me claiming i owe them for the balance. Am I actually liable for this?

Hello and thank you for your question. What do you want to accomplish?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
Bellow is the email they sent me. I want to make sure i am not liable fo rthis purchse. If I am then I would rather pay it then have it go to collections and mess up my credit. Ideally I want them to stop contacting me and get the ballance elsware.

You are responsible for the balance of 1,158.00 not the new owners.
You currently owe payments for April and May totaling 772.00,.
We made the contract agreement with you and you are legally responsible.
Please contact me immediately to resolve.
Thank you.

If you never authorized it in writing or otherwise, you have a defense to payment.

if i signed a contract, on behalf of the company, does that make me liable??? should i ask them for a copy of the contract?

Hey I accidently clicked accepted. I actually still ned more help with this.

You would not be personally liable. You were an agent only and the company alone would be liable but get a copy of it to confirm you so signed as agent.
