Can a hotel file a lien on a property because some employees

Customer Question

Can a hotel file a lien on a property because some employees who are doing construction on that property have not paid the hotel bill yet? We had a couple employees stay at a nearby hotel while we were subcontracting a construction renovation on a Taco Bell out of town. We are delayed on funds at the moment and have not denied payment to the hotel but have to delay it. Can they file lien even though they have no tie to the job site what-so-ever?

No they cannot file a lien on the job. They can notify the owner or the General Contractor that you have not paid but they cannot file a valid lien.
