Hi Im David, what is the fuel pressure while its running?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
The pressure gauge flutters 1 or 2 lbs around 40 lbs while running and drops to zero immediately when engine is turned off
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
sorry it took so long to get back to you but I had to work through payment errors with credit card

and you changed the fuel pressure regulator? when you pull off the vacuum line on the fpr, is there fuel present?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
changed fuel pressure regulator. No fuel present with the engine off when vacuum line pulled. Have not tried to pull off the vacuum line with the engine running.
Expert:  david craig replied 4 months ago.

ok, check that, and also see what the pressure reading is when you do pull the vacuum hose off running

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Ok, no fuel present pulling vacuum hose off running. Can't check pressure with vacuum hose off running cause I already returned the pressure gauge I borrowed. D@$%!
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
What should happen to the pressure while running if the vacuum hose is pulled?
Expert:  david craig replied 4 months ago.

it should go up a few psi, but its probably ok. is there a strong smell of fuel in the engine compartment?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
no strong smell
Expert:  david craig replied 4 months ago.

ok. you are going to need to check for leaky injectors. not that difficult on a 3.8.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I have never checked for leaky injectors before.
Expert:  david craig replied 4 months ago.

pull the dipstick. if it smells like gas is one way to tell. or pull the spark plugs. if theyre wet, you have leaky injector/s

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Ok, it is now dark and late. I will have to check for dipstick for gas smell and wet spark plugs tomorrow. What if both tests are negative? Next, possible cause?
Expert:  david craig replied 4 months ago.

pretty much none. but i'll think about it.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Hi David, I checked this morning and the dipstick did not smell of gas and the spark plugs were not wet. Thoughts?
Expert:  david craig replied 4 months ago.

ok. check fuel pressure with the key turned to the on position,do not start. let me know what it is

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
OK. Give me a day or two to borrow the pressure gauge again.
Expert:  david craig replied 4 months ago.
