Welcome, I'm Chris and independent contractor that helps customers here.

Is the noise related, to engine speed or wheel speed?

Will it occur in park?

Does reving the engine make it better or worse?

Thanks for letting me assist you. I hope I met all your expectations.

OK thanks.... Here's more detail: First noticed this sound few weeks back. With the hood UP, One can hear this low intermittent "knock" easily.. like a bearing going bad, only a bit "lower" pitch. Doesn't matter what gear, occurs in all gears, reving of engine does not increase/decrease this noise. Sound occurring BELOW ENGINE, BELT SIDE. ? - I believe I hear it below alternator and below A/C... ? My ear is pretty good with these things. Some TSBS indicate Motor generator and/or belt itself , but I don't think its the belt....... Thanks. Engine light comes on BRIEFLY every 12 or so starts of engine, then stays off again AFTER a cooling off period.

Thanks, ***** ***** does not speed up I am having a hard timing blaming something spinning inside the engine. My suggestion on things to listen closer to are the serpentine belt tension the timing tensioner area and the catalytic converters. A tensioner arm or spring could be to blame as well as a baffle in the converters.
