Buick Repair Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
When the air temp is only correct on one side, this is most commonly due to a problem with the Air Temp Actuator. This actuator is what turns the door internal of the housing to switch between heat and A/C. The driver's side actuator is located behind the center/driver's side of the dash (just above and to the right of the accelerator pedal - CLICK HERE for an image). To gain access, the lower insulator panel and knee bolster will need to be removed. Inspect the electrical connector for any loose, broken or damaged wires. Remove the actuator and turn the door by hand making sure there is no binding and that the air temp is now correct. If there are any problems found here, the HVAC housing will need to be removed, opened and the internal door repaired as needed. If everything checks ok, replace the Actuator.
