Buick Skylark: my sons buick skylark starts then stops right

This answer was rated:

my son's buick skylark starts then stops right away. I read your answer to this same problem for another person and have the following issue. I do not see a theft light on his dash when the ignition is turned on so I'm not sure if it has this feature. I did have a friend with a code reader read the code and got a P1629 code which would indicate this as the problem. I have trite starting having it quit l
then leaving the ignition switch on and waiting 10 mins. and trying it with same results.
Hello and good afternoon. These security systems are certainly problematic. I see you tried the 10 minute relearn. Have you tried the 30 minute relearn yet?

not sure what that is can you explain?

Sure, this is an extension of the 10 minute relearn. Follow this procedure:

1. Turn ignition on.
2. Attempt to start the engine, and then release the key to the “ON” position.
3. Observe the “SECURITY” indicator light. After 10 minutes the “SECURITY” indicator light
will turn off.
4. Turn ignition to the “OFF” position, and wait 10 seconds.
5. Attempt to start the engine, and then release the key to the “ON” position.
6. Observe the “SECURITY” indicator light. After 10 minutes the “SECURITY” indicator light
will turn off.
7. Turn ignition to the “OFF” position, and wait 10 seconds.
8. Attempt to start the engine, and then release the key to the “ON” position.
9. Observe the “SECURITY” indicator light. After 10 minutes the “SECURITY” indicator light
will turn off.
10. Turn ignition to the “OFF” position, and wait 10 seconds.
11. Vehicle has now learned the new password. Start the engine.
12. With a scan tool, clear any trouble codes.
