You will need to remove the screw behind the handle, the trim plate will move forward slightly and tip out. the handle itself is held in by a rivet or screw to the door frame. there is a small retainer that holds the handle release rod to it. carefully unclip the latch rod. reverse procedure to reinstall. be careful when putting trim plate back in to be sure you line up the lock rod with the manual lock/unlock sliding button in the trim plate.

If you need any further information or assistance please let me know.gmtech196741098.7369326389

You say to remove the handle the rivet or screw behind handle needs removed. you also say trim plate will move forward slightly and tip out. (1) when you say behind handles a rivet or screw does "behind" mean inside door or ON door panel? (2) when you say trim plate will move forward slightly and tip out... is that to gain access to rivet or screw or after screws removed THEN the trimplate will move? (3) i cannot see any evidence of screws or any hardware behind handle its just black plastic.

When you first look at the trim plate around the door handle. there is a screw that is holding the trim plate to the door that trim plate also holds the door lock switch and manual lock/unlock button

that is the plate that will tip out.

after that the rivet or screw for the handle itself will be visiblegmtech196741098.7561025116

Tim, no problem at all! There were 2 types of ways buick covered those screws at 9&10. 1st was black plastic covers. You will need a very fine flat screwdriver like for eye glasses or sharp pick. Very carefully from the corner of the cover unsnap the cover. 2nd the ends of the pull strap are tucked under the edge of the trim at each end of strap. Just use pick or screw driver to untuck strap. There are 2 large phillip screws to remove
