2000 buick Century has 96,700 mils. on it, just replaced starter & battery. Hear a high pitched whine when excelerate to 40mph. Can you tell me what it could be?

in park if you rev up the engine do you hear that noise ?
Yes & when I take my foot off gas or slow down it goes away.
ok.more than likey you have an alternator bearing or a water pump bearing causing this noice expecially if it does it in park and reving it up.what you do next is remove the engine drive belt.and start it up and rev it up.if the noise is gone then shut the car off and spin the alternator by hand and the water pump it HAS to be a belt driven pulley or accesprry causing the noise.its usually the water pump or the alternator
