what could be the cause of a rattle in the motor? it almost sounds like a diesel-especially when it is cold.

Hi,Worn lifters and/or pushrods will cause a rattle that is more pronounced when engine is cold and oil flowing as well as when engine is warmed up and oil is thinner.with engine cold, crank engine and while idling, place a screwdriver tip against valve cover and listen at the handle.
