GM Tech (Cam) :

Welcome

GM Tech (Cam) :

We are in a live chat window now.

GM Tech (Cam) :

Turn the key on, with the engine OFF.Try to start the engine, then release the key to ON, Engine will not start. Watch the security telltale, after about 10 mins, it will turn OFF.

GM Tech (Cam) :

Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.

GM Tech (Cam) :

Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.

GM Tech (Cam) :

Start the engine .

GM Tech (Cam) :

that is the reset.

Customer:

Can you give 40 minutes to try that?

GM Tech (Cam) :

Sure.

GM Tech (Cam) :

make sure the battery stays charged cause if it goes dead, you start over.

Customer:

OK. I'll stay online. Will you?

GM Tech (Cam) :

yes, I will bon online for 45 more mins.

Customer:

Should I leave the booster connected while I do these four steps?

GM Tech (Cam) :

yes, that would be best.

Customer:

OK. I let you know how it goes

GM Tech (Cam) :

ok

Customer:

No luck

GM Tech (Cam) :

Did the light flash at all?

Customer:

Yes. On the first try the lockout symbol would flash three times then the battery symbol

GM Tech (Cam) :

Did you do any setup with a scan tool after installing prior to trying to programming it?

Customer:

No. I don't have a scan tool

GM Tech (Cam) :

Ok, then with a new module, and the relearn you just did not working, the setup in the scan tool is what is needed.

Customer:

My mechanic installed the new key cylinder and although I only have one original key he programmed a new PK3 key for me. I noticed after leaving their shop that the inside door lock button would only lock the doors. It would not unlock the doors but my FOB still worked OK

GM Tech (Cam) :

Is this the case from both front doors?

Customer:

Yes the fob works for all doors and the rear liftgate as well.

GM Tech (Cam) :

I meant the power lock button on the door.

Customer:

I'm not sure. Give me a minute and I'll go try if you want

GM Tech (Cam) :

OK, I only have 5 more mins that I can keep my eyes open.

GM Tech (Cam) :

getting very late gere,

GM Tech (Cam) :

here I mean,

Customer:

OK

GM Tech (Cam) :

If need be we can pick this back up in the morning.

Customer:

My booster is still running and with the key in the on POSITION THE DOOR LOCK BUTTON DOES not OPEN THE DOOR LOCKS

GM Tech (Cam) :

Ok, if both door switches are not working then you may have the common issue that happens with these, the Body Control Module.

Customer:

Does that mean I need a new Body control module?

GM Tech (Cam) :

Chances are good, but that does not take away from the setup of the theft module.

Customer:

OK, Cam. Please accept my thanks and I'll accept your answers. Lets call it a night.
