1994 Buick Century: 2.2L, 4-cylinder engine.

Customer Question

I have a 1994 Buick Century. It has a 2.2L, 4-cylinder engine. The fan does not work. I have checked the fan motor and it works fine and I have replaced the thermostat. What else should I look for? The "service engine soon" light comes on constantly but except for the fan not working , the car runs fine.

Hello & Welcome,

Have you tried to pull the code for why the SES light is coming on yet?

Thanks

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
The answe is no. Anyplace we have gone does not have the instruments to check the codes for vehicles that old. I have not gone to a dealership. The fan has not worked for 2 1/2 years, My husband jump started my car from his truck back in august of 2006 and it has not worked since. He blew many things, which we have replaced but this is the only part that won't work.

Hi again,

The good news is you should be able to get the codes from the system usiing the following procedure, which does not need a scan tool.

Let me know how this works out and we can continue with the troubleshooting.

I am unable to click on any if the links.
Expert:  Greg A replied 7 years ago.

There are just two graphics (images).

Can you click on them to make them full size?

Thanks

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Made them full size but cannot them.
Expert:  Greg A replied 7 years ago.

If you mean that you can see the procedure & figure in full size, that is what is supposed to happen. The link in the image is not clickable.

Just follow the instructions carefully and let me know what you find, then we figure out where to go from there.

Thanks, XXXXX
