    I'm in a real pickle. I am doing a complete rebuild on a 1998 Mariner 40 hp cylinder 2 stroke. I had the block cleaned, cylinders honed, and ready. I installed the 2nd piston into the cylinder and pushed down to the bottom. I heard a tink. It was a piston ring that expanded at the bottom of the sleeve. Now my brand new piston is locked to the bottom. I then noticed that #2 sleeve is lifted up maybe an 1/8 of an inch higher then the others. I'm wondering when the machine shop honed out the cylinder if the sleeve lifted? How the heck am I going to get this out? any ideas?

    I have a 2002 175 Evinrude Ficht outboard. I have only 35lb of compression in number 4 cylinder and the the rest our fine.
    I pulled the head to check the pistons and cylinder walls out. Number 4 is slightly marked up. I believe that the rings will be replace, if not the piston as well.
    I can hone out the cylinder to remove the slightly marks in it. Can I replace the number 4 piston without breaking it down to the bare block?
    I'm trying to do this repair as cheap as possible, but still keep the integrity of the motor. If I have to I have to. The walls look really good on the other cylinders and so do the other pistons.
    Is there a site I can go to to help me on this? I'm looking to buy a manual for this engine.
    I bought this boat just this past week. Its on a Mint condition 1990 19 ft Stratus Bass Boat with this 2002 on it. This guy took great care of boat and motor. I couldn't help it, I only paid $2500.00 for everything. I looked over the motor and no holes in block. Can I just do one piston to get it back running?
    I also understand all the variables to this question. Thanks

    I have a 2008 90 horse yamaha that leaks oil around the oil sending unit. is thier a way to seal this up. the unit itself works great just leaks alittle around the rubber cap
