I'm trying to install a new cable on what I think is a Safe-t QC type helm. But I don't see either a hitch pin or the two screws that secure the cable to the helm. I do see on underside of the helm one screw that is spring loaded; this screw is a slotted screw. how do I remove the old cable

I just push in on the screw and pull out on the cable?

Correct this is why they call it Quick Connect.

Then you install new cable and pin. The cable pushes in and slide the pin in to keep cable in.
