i own twin Volvo tmd74p edc engines with 1400 hr. run perfect start good no problems at all . it wont go more than 2000rpm which should get up to 2600rpm blowing black smoke has been fully serviced by me I am a 30 years mechanic had the tappets adjusted new water pump & air cooler & heat exchanger cleaned out it got no codes at all (clean diesel &filters )no air leak from inlet manifolds all wirings &connections perfect please help thanks name is Chris

Black smoke is incompletely burned fuel, the engine is either getting too much fuel (leaking injectors) or not enough air (turbocharger problem).

Other possibilities are a clogged intercooler or low compression.

If the engine was fine before the servicing, you may have made the exhaust valves too tight.

If this was happening before the service, I would check the turbo.
