Have 2011 Yamaha F150TXR with 130 hours on it. Run in salt

Customer Question

Have 2011 Yamaha F150TXR with 130 hours on it. Run in salt water. Do I need to replace water pump and thermostat. Manual says replace water pump every 3 years or 300 hours. Which controls time elapsed (3 years) or usage (300 hours)?

The basic rule of thumb for salt water is that it cuts the time in half. These items are essential to the life of the engine, so I personally would do them yearly, no matter what the book says. When I worked on salt water boats, this is what we did in the shop as well.
