I checked compression it has 170 in each c head will not

I checked compression it has 170 in each c head will not idle .when I can get it started ,I can get rpm down to around 1800 rpm and then it will go wot by itself mech rebuilt carb, please help

How old is the fuel you are trying to burn? Has the tank been completely pumped out yet? Has a water separator been added to the engine?

Compression is good. Before the fuel system gets dug into the ignition timing must be checked first. Did you check the timing, and if yet, what is it set to?
