Customer Question

I have a 1979 33ft.pacemaker boat with twin 7.4 454 engines I am having a problem with the ignition. I have power on both sides of the coil, could this have something to do with the neutral safety switch ?

Hello Rich. My name is Tan.

No the neutral safety switch has to do with cranking only not spark.

Do you have electronic points or conventional points?

Do you have voltage to the coil when cranking the engine?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I have electronic ignition, yes I have voltage coming from both sides of the coil
Expert:  Tan replied 2 months ago.

If you have voltage an no spark the module in the distributor is bad.

Now do you have voltage when cranking?

Is this Prestolite ignition?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I really have tried checking all the above, I guess I'll start all over again, thanks anyway
