Customer Question

Hi,
I have a Universal M25XPB built in 2001 on my sailboat. The throttle mechanism is set up so it will not stay in forward position unless the helmsman holds it there.
How can I adjust the throttle so forward position stays in place on its own?
Thanks!
Peter

Hello, my name is***** will assist you.

Depending on the control box that is in the boat, there will be a friction screw on it to tighten the throttle setting on the engine. this will allow the handle to stay where it is placed.

Where do I locate the friction screw and the control box for a universal Diesel M25XPB?
Expert:  Charles replied 3 months ago.

What is the make and model of the control?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
It is the original control the Ericson yachts sailboat manufacturer put on in 1988 for the universal diesel M25XPB. Just a stainless steel handle with a throttle cable running to the engine.

Length?

Not long 10 feet maybe. It I move the lever on the engine (which is underneath the companionway going down into the sailboat cabin) I can look up to the cockpit / helm and see the throttle moving.

Sorry, the boat length. Im trying to locate a good pic of the control box.

Look on the fwd side of the compass/throttle. See if there are any screws located there. If there are not, the compass will need to come off so that you can get to the controls.
