Small outboard engine...Honda 30...use with inflatable on

Customer Question

Small outboard engine...Honda 30...use with inflatable on fresh water...servicd annually...today it konked out while operating and when I raised engine water poured out from the cover...I removed it and water was shooting up...appreciate your thoughts
JA: Sometimes boat issues seem like they'll be really complicated, but end up being easy to fix. The Marine Mechanic I'm going to connect you with knows all the tricks and shortcuts. Is there anything else important you think the Marine Mechanic should know?
Customer: I don't think so

Was the engine running when the water was shooting up?

Could you tell where it was coming from?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Initially it was not running, when the water poured out from under the cover when I raised engine. I put engine back down and it started...while running, I removed cover and that's when I saw the water shooting up (as well as thru the normal release holes). Looking from the rear of boat at the engine, it was on the right side, a couple inches below the engine cover latch line - sorry not too familiar with engines...thanks

Was the water still coming from the tale-tell?

Could you possible take a pic of it and post it here?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Dark here now so no picture
...but yes, water still streaming thru tale-tell (a couple of them I think)

What year is the engine?
