Have you looked at the gear oil yet?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
No. The prop was in forwRd. Hit bottom . Assume prop got held up on bottom . Now gearbox shot. How $ to fix
Expert:  Charles replied 7 months ago.

Gears are 150 -175 each, prop shaft is 160. Seal kit around 70. If the drive shaft is also twisted, it is 75. If your housing is destroyed, your better off looking for a used gear case, as they are no longer available.

Is that parts and labor?
Expert:  Charles replied 7 months ago.

That is just the parts. You would be looking at 4 hrs labor for a total rebuild of this case, at least. Cost would depend on where you took it and their labor rate.
