Customer Question

I have a F250 the engine that was making a sound I never heard before ( hi pitch while running ) the engine shut on me as I throttled down to go under bridge. When i re started the engine makes a clacking noise. At no point did the engine over heat nor water stop spitting. The motor makes the noise on idle and engaged. I call sea tow and its on my trailer. Any clues

Hello, my name is***** will assist you.

Is your engine a SHO?

Can you remove the spark plugs and look at the tops of them?

Ok, #2, Can you check the engine oil and make sure that there is not any metal or water in it?

I am also going to need a compression test to find out how good the block itself is.

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Okay will check oil however compression is out of my pay scale
standby on oil
Expert:  Charles replied 9 months ago.

Compression is rather simple, You can rent a gauge from a chain auto parts store, pull the kill switch on the engine, to stop the spark, install the gauge, Open the throttle using the Neutral only button, then crank the engine over until the gauge obtains a max reading. Record the reading. Repeat for the other 5.
