I have a 1949 craft model M engine. I replaced the fuel pump

Customer Question

I have a 1949 chris craft model M engine. I replaced the fuel pump and it still does not seem to be working properly. The engine starves for fuel especially when you try to accelerate. The engine will die. not sure what to do

Hello. My name is Tan.

Have you tried running the engine off a different fuel tank. Gas can Jerry can?

If you have an old fuel tank it could have debris in the tank blocking the flow of fuel to the engine.

Tried that. It is like the fuel pump is not working to full capacity. Like it isn't hitting the cam

When you had the fuel pump off did you inspect the cam the fuel pump rides on? Is it flat and worn down?

Ok Frank I don't know enough about this engine to go into any kind of details so I will opt out. Just thought I would see if I could help.
