Hello, my name is ***** ***** am I speaking with?

What is the serial number on the engine inside the boat? What kinds of questions did you have?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Hello Jason, im Eric, i cant make out the serial number on the engine cover. Its model number is ***** mx 6.2 mpi. Does this help? Just wondering if you had any ideas what the most likely problem might be or what i might start looking at.

Hi Eric,

Okay I know what a 6.2 is. There is very little you can do on your own with these engines as they require a scan tool to work on them. That being said, have you checked for fuel pressure or spark output?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
No, I was not able to do that on the water yesterday. I just got my boat to my shop I'm going to check those things out and will contact you shortly thank you. At first i thought a plug wire may have come off. Then about a mile later it got alittle rougher and progressively worse until i shut it down. Then would only turn over.

The engine needs 4 things to run. Compression, spark output, fuel pressure, and a properly working fuel management system. Checking spark and fuel pressure only takes 5 minutes to do. If you have them both, check compression next. Let me know how you make out.

Hey Jason, just checked. No spark

I pulled off the distributor cap. It's pretty coroded and has some moisture under it. I'm going to clean it up a little and see if I can get some Spark.
