I own a 2002 evinrude 225 ficht it is using a tremendous amount of oil I went thru 2 gallons in 1 and onehalf gallons in one and one half hour and never planed the boat out I would say 90 percent was at an idle I checked all lines from tank to motor and all around on the motor

Remove the solenoid from the pump body. Make sure that the solenoid is not staying fully open.

ok would it be to my advantage to replace the oil pump I have a 225 ho motor

I would inspect it first. That part number is ***** available from Evinrude any longer. Newer model yrs have a slightly different pump.

ok I will check it first and check the numbers on the two pumps could it be the computer telling the motor to use extra oil?

even if the motor was still in break in, it would not use that much oil. the diaphragm that is inside the pump could be torn as well
