Ok, thats fine, there are no time limits here. your engine should have CDM type coils, they are a bit tough to test without the proper test gear.

They require 12 volt power right

The CDM will be getting fuel from the stator and trigger. You will be getting several hundred volts on the Green wires while cranking. Test it in AC.
