I have a 1998 Mercury EFI. I am getting a continuous alarm

Customer Question

I have a 1998 Mercury EFI. I am getting a long continuous alarm sounding when I idle or run low RPMS . Can you tell me what the alarm means? It sounds like an overheating alarm. If it is could you tell me what I need to look for to fix it

Hello, my name is***** will assist you.

The solid tone alarm is for overheating, all other alarms are a beeping type. The thing to do is to replace the water pump impeller. It is not a very tough job and I can guide you through it. To do so, I will need to know the serial number of the engine.

I have it thanks. Which HP do you have?

Do you already have the impeller or water pump kit?
