Hi Brad, my name is***** Ray will have a Mercruiser engine. Mercruiser engines are cataloged by serial number, do you happen to have that number handy? Next, when was the last time the engine started and the trim worked? It is odd that both would stop working at the same time. When was the last time everything worked? Was the battery every hooked up backwards, or a charger hooked up backwards to the battery?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Ran fine a week ago, put on trailer and sat. 2 days ago there was no alarm when ign key turned to on. Hooked up a charger to batteries just to check.

Got it. Well.... it could be any number of things, and this will need some troubleshooting in order to figure out the problem(s). Do you have a hand held volt meter and do you know how to take voltage measurements? If yes, are you near the boat now and ready to work?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I am not near the boat right now

What about the volt meter?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I do have one

When you turn the key to RUN, do the gauge come alive?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
No, the display in the speedometer lights up, but nothing is displayed. When I turned it on a couple days ago it displayed depth 0.0

Where you would need to start is by turning the key to run, and seeing if you get 12V out of the purple wire on the key switch, and then turning the key to start and checking power out of the yellow/red wire on the key switch. Can you check those and get back to me?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
It would be a couple days until I could do that
Expert:  Jason replied 11 months ago.
There are no time limits here, let me know what happens.
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Ok, thank you

You bet :)
