Hi Donna, my name is ***** ***** have a hand held volt meter, and are you able to take voltage measurements?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Not super familiar but I can follow directions
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
But yes I have one
Expert:  Jason replied 11 months ago.
Pop the engine cover off. Hook meter negative up to battery negative, hook meter positive to where the main positive battery cable connects at the starter motor. Make sure the meter is set to read DC volts. Have a helper hold the key to start while you watch the meter. What do you get for a reading?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
The DC volts has diff numbers... Ex 1000, 200, etc... Which setting
Expert:  Jason replied 11 months ago.
What is the make and model of your meter, I will look it up.
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Actron CP7672
Expert:  Jason replied 11 months ago.
Got it Set the meter to 20 on the DC scale
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
12.89 to 12.98
Expert:  Jason replied 11 months ago.
You have to be holding the key to start. Have a helper hold the key to start while you are making the measurement. Also, if you have a battery charger hooked up, disconnect it or else that will screw with the readings.
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I did turn it to start
Expert:  Jason replied 11 months ago.
Voltage should be lower than 12.89. Did you hear any clicking when doing this test? I have to take call with another client, I will hopefully be back in 15 to 30 minutes
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
It will click n reads the same dcv before I turn key also
Expert:  Jason replied 11 months ago.
Is there any kind of battery charger hooked up?
Expert:  Jason replied 11 months ago.
Would you prefer to do his over the phone? It would probably take a 1/4 of the time to solve versus doing this via a chat box.
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
No charger hooked up... And what would b my cost if did a telecon?
Expert:  Jason replied 11 months ago.
The cost would be an additional 26. For that, whether it is 15 minutes or 45 minutes, we would talk as much as we needed to in order to solve the problem. It's a flat rate, not a per minute charge. In either event, the process goes a lot quicker and it's a lot less frustrating for both yourself and me if we do it over the phone.
Expert:  Jason replied 11 months ago.
I will send you the offer for phone service now. If you accept it I can call you right away.
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
Just to be clear... Total would be 52?
Expert:  Jason replied 11 months ago.
Correct.
Customer: replied 11 months ago.

Expert:  Jason replied 11 months ago.
No problem. If it helps make up your mind my real name is***** live in south florida, I speak perfect English, and I am Mercury certified. And I can definitely walk you through how to fix this over the phone. All you would need on your end is a helper to turn the key while we do some tests.
