I want to change my 2005 Merc 2 cycle short shaft (15") to a 20" longshaft. Have located a unit on EBAY. Seller claims his longshaft is from a 2001 Merc..model OT222887. Claims lower unit will fit Mercs 2 cycle 6/8/9.9/15 from 1994-2006. Will his unit fit my Merc 2 cycle 15 hp: Model 1-015201DD. SER# *****?

The gear housing is the same on both motors. The difference is the length of the driveshaft housing. Are you buying that as well?
