I replaced my boat battery. Boat started right away.in 5 minutes engine sounded rough. Engine shut off. Positive post melted.it is possible the connection was loose. Is there damage to my engine.i have a new battery. Is it safe to install the new battery

Hello. Loose or corroded connection will cause this. There shouldn't be an issue with just replacing the battery.Now it is possible you could have an alternator issue. Post back when you get the engine started back up and we can test the charging system. Post back with findings.
