Hello, my name is***** you for allowing me to assist you today.
How is the throttle set up on the boat?
Are you near the boat and can do some testing?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Can you remove the engine hood and see if the throttle arm will move at all?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Motor runs fine at speed....just idle issue. Rhrottle does move
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
What I am asking is that with the control handle in Neutral. Can you take off the engine cowling. Locate the throttle arm on the left side of the engine. Try to move it fwd and aft. Will it move some right now?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Okay one sec
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
Alright
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Do i need to start it?
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
No this is just a static test
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
This it?
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
No. Below the silver box, where the cable attaches to.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
There is play on bottom cable....top one does not move
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The one with cotter pin slides about half inch on a rail.
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
The top one is the throttle. Will it move fore and aft any at all?
Try to move the throttle handle to Full then back to N. Check the throttle arm for any movement then as well.
Also back off that nut 1/2 turn. It looks too tight.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It moves
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Back this nut off?
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
Ok,
With it in Neutral. Take the nut off. Remove the cable from the holder where the adjustment is. Turn the barrel of the adjustment so that the cable end gets longer. Turn it 3 turns. the reattach the cable, do the test again of moving the throttle and then back to neutral. You want the throttle arm to nut move when you come back to N.
Yes that nut
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
This bolt adjustment seems to keep throttle are from going back any further. Its on backside of throttle arm. Guessing that has to be adjusted too?
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
The bolt should be fine. You need to make sure that when you come from FWD to N that the bolt is touching the block and the arm will not move fwd at all.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok, so i will remove the small bolt that connects cable housing to throttle arm, back the housIng off 3 turns an reattach to throttle arm. Confirm?
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
Yes. Do you see where the cables are held in? About 6" fwd of the nut. There is a lock bar over them both.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Yup...see the threads....
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
Alright, make the threads longer on the end of the cable that attaches to the throttle arm.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Must be a bitch ti work on theZe. Tight spaces
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok, 3 turns and now there is no play at all. Solid. Gonna start it.
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
yes it can be quite tough some time to get in there.
Make sure that you have water going to the engine before you start it.
How is the throttle and idle now.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No change on idle....still reving up and down
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
Are you getting any alarms at all?
Can you record a vid of the engine and post it here?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No alarms.....rough idle and revs from 800 to about 1150.. back and forth
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
Has it done this since it was new or is this a new problem?
Would be nice if I would hear the engine.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Just started last night. New engine in may.
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
Alright,
With the engine at idle on the hose. Depress the valve on the left fuel rail. It is pressurized air, is there any liquid in it?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I really appreciate your help but i have to stop. 96 heat index right now. Im dying in the driveway. Too hot for this right now
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
I totally understand that. Working in the heat is really tough.
When it cools down some, if you wish to try that and let me know that would be fine as well. I will be online until about midnight CST.
