I have a Mercury 2005 75 ELPTO outboard and need to replace

Customer Question

I have a Mercury 2005 75 ELPTO outboard and need to replace the Trim Motor, at first I thought undoing the 2 cap screws that I seen was all I needed and then I noticed my replacement Trim motor had 4 cap screws. I then found the other bolts and see that they are in the back and not accessible with out removing some large pieces of metal. My motor is attached to my Targa and want to know if there is any way to replace the Trim motor without removing the outboard from my boat?

Hello, my name is***** you for allowing me to assist you today.
Yes there is a way. Can you get a 1 1/4" wrench, a 5/8" socket and a 3/4" socket?
