Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
Yes I am here. You wrote that the engine is a 91, that would be an 0G serial number. It is also on the block on a tag on the cylinder head along with on a freeze plug on top of the cylinder head.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
Ok can you look at the side of the engine where the throttle cable is located and see if the throttle arm is all the way to the stop?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
lose end screw and throttle cable still will not come forward enough to lower idle
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
lower screw on throttle cable mercury upper cable is throttle lower is shift
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
temperature sense circuit could not feed this much fuel could it
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
there are 3 screws for the throttle arm. An upper one for MAX timing, a center one for idle timing and a lower one for idle stop.
Can you take a pic of it and send it to me here on the site. I would be able to tell you which one you need to adjust.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I adjusted the lower one for idle stop did move the others but left there set nuts in place to reset them
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
idle is very smooth just very high
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have a manual
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
hello are you there
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
Ok, Great.
It is a busy night here on the site. i reply back to my questions in the order that they come in, unless I am on the phone.
Can you remove the air box and see if the carb throats are stuck open?
Also look at the throttle roller, make sure that nothing is hanging it open?
Is the idle set screw maxed out in one direction?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
carb plates are free to move, throttle cable free to move has no had to max out idle stop and idle sense to lower rpm below 2000 rpm currently 1700 rpm I replaced stator trigger voltage regulators and cdi packs Marina said they checked timing did not!!
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
throttle rollers on side are free to move so carb plates are free to move
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
Loosen the screw that holds the roller to the throttle rod. Make sure that it is not holding the rod open.
Have you checked the timing on the engine?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
do not have necessary top center guage to start with cylinder 1 marina charged me to do this I think this is a timing issue
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
Dont need that gauge, just a timing light, and a hose to get the engine running.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
every thing is free to move
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
good bye you can not help will bring back to marina
Expert:  Charles replied 1 year ago.
Ok,
Have a timing light?
Are any of the pugs a different color on the tips?
