I got a 1984 mericruiser 120hp (4cyl. inboard, the boat has been sitting for 10 yrs.). at home it starts up, after spraying some break fluid into the carburetor (one spray), the engine starts and stays on (it increases and decreases RPM when handle is moved up or down, but it would not re-start. the belt moves making the attempt to start. So far I did the following: change all oils (motor and gear), checked the carburetor cup (it seems clean), I replace all spark plugs (these were given to me by the marine store), they looked a little diferent than the ones in the engine, but they fitted (I gap them at 0.035). I went to the lake, but it did not start in the lake. I whent back home and sprayed one spray of the cleaner and it started, however, it did not re-start...I am in the same situation as before.

Hi my name isXXXXX will assist you.
.
The carburetor is clogged and not allowing fuel to the engine. Remove the carb disassemble clean and install a carb kit. When an engine sits that long the fuel that was in the carb has dried up completely leaving allot of old dried fuel in the float bowl which has clogged all the jets and ports. We know it is a fuel related issue as the engine starts with starting fluid leaving the carburetor as the issue.
Very good tan, I will do the kit first. some people told me to replace the impeller as well, I belive I will do both.
Yes absolutely. I think you have cover the rest also check the fuel filter in the bottom of the fuel pump there is an element in the pump. Don't forget to rate me positive.......Thank you in advance ............Tan
