I have a 2000 - 2 stroke 150 hp optimax motor. When I run the motor at 1800-2600 rpm, I get an overheated alarm. Have had this problem since this motor was purchased. I am the original owner. Water pump empellers have been replaced. Thermostats have been replaced 3 times. Spring inlet water valve has been replaced. Water hoses have been rerouted and checked. In other words nothing seems to work and have been to three different mercury mechanics with no luck. I have been fighting this problem for 10 years. Do you have an anwer for me?
Hi my name isXXXXX will assist you today. These questions take some troubleshooting and several posts back and forth. Ask as many questions as needed so we can get his right. I have a few questions for you.Can I have the engine serial number? How old is the impeller in the water pump now?You said that the water hoses have been rerouted and checked. Do you know if the cooling kit for the OptiMax was installed? You can tell if you follow the hoses from the thermostats to the adapter plate. If installed you will see 2 elbow fittings there. If not you will see 1.Has anyone ever checked to see if your exhaust tuner is still in place?Do you have the mulit function light gauge installed? Has anyone ever checked the air compressor water inlet screen? If you need diagrams for the location on parts please let me know.
I will have to have time to follow up these questions. Can I reply back to you tomorrow?
