Hello, welcome to JustAnswer. because of the range of possible issues, this may take more than one post. Please, don't hesitate to reply.

How long does the motor run before it dies?

Customer replied 338 days and 4 hours ago.

less than 2min

Then you re prime the motor and it will start and die again, right?

Customer replied 338 days and 4 hours ago.

yes

This is the fuel pick up, or lift, pump. You are filling the carbs with the primer and the motor runs until the carbs empty out again.

It's a pretty easy fix, and not to bad on cost either. If you send me the engine serial number I can get you the part number you need for the repair kit, it's availability, a good place to purchase it on line if you like, and a diagram of the pump itself in exploded fashion for help when assembling it.

Customer replied 338 days and 4 hours ago.

where would the number be at

On a tag that is on the part of the motor mount that holds the motor to the boat. The Serial Number will begin with zero, a letter, and six more numbers.

Being the v-6 you can just tell me the size (HP) and is it a four or two stroke and whether or not it's the verado model

OK, the fuel pump on your motor is working or the TKS wouldn't be able to prime the motor. But if the motor is running fine for the time it does run, it means you are running out of gas as soon as the TKS solenoid is shutting off. That means you have stuck floats in the carb.

You are probably going to need to take the carb off to be cleaned and rebuilt. But, before you pull the carb, unplug the enrichment valve and try starting the motor. If it wont start, or is far worse than before, then plug the enrichment valve back it and give the carb a smart wrap with the butt of a screw driver right in front of where the fuel line connects to the carb. This may knock the stuck float needle loose, There is about a 50/50 chance it will. Then try starting the motor again. If that doesn't work for you, I am afraid the carb is going to need to come off and be cleaned and serviced (rebuilt).

LOL. you threw me with calling it a Mercury, and priming it.

Customer replied 338 days and 3 hours ago.

sorry, the carb was rebuilt but i am not sure what or where the inrichment valve is ?

it was doing this before the carb was rebuilt...

The enrichment valve is the black thing on the side of the carb with the wires sticking out of it.

When was the carb rebuilt?

Customer replied 338 days and 3 hours ago.

with the starter fresh recently...we unpluged that enrichment and tried to start it.. it wouldnt restart...plugged back in now it will idle for few min then when you increase throttle it dies..

Your floats in the carb are stuck, or you have very low fuel pressure. You can check the fuel pressure by placing a fuel pressure gauge between the carb and the fuel pump and watching the needle when the motor fires for those two minutes

Customer replied 338 days and 2 hours ago.

ok..where would the fuel pump be located...thank you for your help

The fuel pump is on the cool fuel module. It is far easier to attach the pressure gauge to the line right next to the carb.

Customer replied 338 days and 2 hours ago.

is it a mechanical fuel pump and what is pressure need to be? and is there s filter between pump and carb

It is an electronic fuel pump, the fuel pressure is supposed to be 7-10 psi, No the water separating fuel filter is before the fuel pump.
