boat runs fine, fish for 3 hours then try to leave boat does not have enough power to get on plain, and i have a glass filter on there and it will pull all the gas out of the filter
Optional Information: Make (of engine): Johnson Model (of engine): j115tlcnb Year: 1982 Horsepower: 115 Already Tried: replaced fuel pump, all fuel lines and vacume lines
Welcome, this question may need more than a single answer. Please post back with additional questions on this at any time. You probably have a restriction between the filter and the tank.Where the fuel line connects to the tank is a hose barb. The hose barb is actually an anti-siphon valve. Inside the barb is a check ball, it is this that usually sticks and causes a restriction.Remove the anti-siphon valve and replace it with a full flow through hose barb. You can pick one up at any auto parts store for a couple dollars. Then you will have a full flow of fuel to the engine.By sucking the filter dry it is proving the fuel pump and lines from the filter are OK so your problem has to be downstream of there.Change th fitting out and let me know how it does. Thanks
i have changed the hose twice and the barb twice, has a new tank in the boat, the new tank isn't venting correctly, if the boat sits outside the tank will swell up like its not venting correctly, could i be having a problem with the new tank????
Sure can. It is unusual to have a closed vent but it does fit the symptoms. Your vent should be next to the fill. If you have compressed air blow back through the hose. Check the vent itself has a screen, if it doesn't you may have had a visitor clog up the line.If a portable tank check the vent on the cap.
yah the vent is in the cap it is open and the tank still doesn't vent, could be my problem why the boat sits in the sun while fishing for 3 or 4 hours then runs out of Fual??? think i should replace the tank, it has a warranty
Replace the tank or the cap. I've seen a few where they were not vented. There are some new unvented tanks but they need special hose routing. I try to stay away from the new tanks.
