I have an MD2 Volvo Penta engine with a gear type transmission. The transmission goes into reverse fine, however I am having difficulty getting it in forward. When I move the shifting lever all the way to the forward position with the engine running, I have to rev the engine a little until it finally drops into gear. When the engine is off and I shift to forward, it appears to engage. Any suggestions? Thanks XXX XXXX
Optional Information: Make (of engine): Volvo Penta Model (of engine): MD2 Year: 1972 Horsepower: 18 Already Tried: I have disconnected the transmision shifting cable and tried to shift into forward by moving the shift lever by hand, insuring it was moved as far into possition as I could move it.

Rick,
Do you have an actual model number for the transmisson?
No I don,t have the Morley number. However it is not the cone type. Inside the transmission it has a gear and a black nylon insert that meshes with the drive gear. I can take a picture if that will help. The engine is in the boat.
You can try posting a few pictures if you like. I'm not however going to spend 20 minutes trying to figure out what you have if you don't know what you have.
