Mercury outboard engine-1985-115 HP vertical 6 cyl I removed and cleaned the plugs (fire ring plugs )and the bottom plug was a bit corroded and had foamy raw fuel on it. All other plugs were great. did a compression check and that was similar to other cylinders. 6 coils -bottom one had very hot spark. Replaced bottom cyl spark plug and wire. When running with Muff and hose for cooling, even after 15 minutes of running the bottom plug still showed foamy fuel and similar foam exiting the bottom exhaust area of engine. My concern is that water is getting into the bottom cylynder. I have a service manual, but it is not clear to me what part failure would be responsponsible for this conditionl

Hi. If it's water, (sounds like it), then the most common place for water to enter is thru the exhaust cover & or gaskets on the port side of the motor. I would pull the exhaust cover off & inspect the gaskets, plates & surfaces. Make sure you can get the gaskets prior to disassembling. Go to an authorized mercury dealer with the serial number of the motor to get the correct gaskets. I hope this helps. Please click accept & if I can be of further help please contact me. Good Luck & Thanks.

Removed exhaust cover, replaced baffle and gaskets. Still water in #6 cylinder. Removed power head replaced gasket. Still water in #6 (bottom) cylinder. What else could this be?
Hi. I see you replaced the exhaust baffle. Did you pull off & inspect the water cover under the exhaust baffle? If you did & that was ok then you may have a damage block. If you did not then you need to remove the exhaust cover & baffle again & remove & inspect the water jacket cover & gasket & at least replace the gasket, but closely inspect the cover & the block & see if you can see any spot where the water was coming in at. If thats ok then you have a hole in the block. I hope this helps. Good luck & Thanks & if I can be of further help please contact me.
