I have a 1997 Mariner Tracker 75 hp outboard 2 stroke engine. The engine starts fine but will not accelerate beyond 5 mph. It sometimes randomly revs itself to very high rpms or when given gas it revs to a very high rpm but the boat does not move forward. It seems as though the props stops spinning or we lose all forward capabilities. It seems as though it is slipping once power is given to the prop. Reverse seems to work fine.
welcome to JA

you have a spun prop

you need a hub re-pressed into it or a new prop for a quicker fix
