Customer Question

2008 328i starts, in 3 seconds sputters and then dies.
JA: Will the headlights turn on? Is the battery fully charged?
Customer: Headlights work. Battery is fine.
JA: Are you fixing your 328i yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: It just started doing this 1/2 hr ago. Trying to figure out where to start so as not to waste time chasing dead-ends. I'm guessing fuel system but electrical could always be in the mix.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: 56,000 miles and a clean car.

Please do not forget to click a positive rating as this is the only way I receive credit for my answer, thank you

this is most likely a failing fuel pump or clogged filter/lines.

the next step would be to test fuel pressure and/or try to run the car on starting fluid to confirm it is in fact a fuel delivery issue.

Please let me know if you have further questions. Please do not forget to click a positive rating as this is the only way I receive credit for my answer, thank you. Best wishes with your vehicle.
