When I try to start the car after sitting overnight, it

Customer Question

When I try to start the car after sitting overnight, it fires right off, runs for about 2 seconds and then dies. After about the 5th try, the car revs real high for a second, returns to a normal idle and then runs fine.
JA: How many miles are on the car? What size is the engine?
Customer: about 110K. 2.8L v6 2000 528i
JA: Are you fixing your 528i yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I just got the car back together after a head gasket change. I had some unforeseen health issues that delayed the project. car actually sat for about 3 years
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: I know the MAF sensor is broken but, I'm not sure if that would cause this issue
