I have a 2002 bmw 745, it starts great but will not go into

Customer Question

I have a 2002 bmw 745 li, it starts great but will not go into any gear, any suggestions
JA: How old is the transmission? Have you checked the brake switch?
Customer: do you mean the parking brake? yes I checked that.
JA: Are you fixing your 745 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I replaced the water pump over the weekend and now it wont come out of park,
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: I had this problem when I got the car and it basically just started going into gear on its own, ran great for about two months, quit running would not start, had it towed to my house, found a loose connection on the battery, fixed that, started fine, now it wont shift at all, I read on line there is a temperature sensor that will make the transmission go into limp mode, I have not addressed that yet. I did replace the integrated supply fuse box.

Hey how are you

1- have you done a diagnostic scan & retrieved any fault codes , what are they?

2- have you tried clearing the codes with scanner or reset them manually

3- what is the mileage . ?

i don't believe pump change has anything to do it not coming out of park, true there is a temp sensor if malfunction will caused to delay engagement or don't engage at all.

if sensor show computer fluid is -40 degrees it want let it shift into gear.

Please let me know

Thank You
