if you let the car sit at idle for 5min, then press the accelerator down while in park or neutral, does it smoke then?

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
Since this drive malfunction has been on, the vehicle now revs up to 1500rpms when I turn the ac off, then it slowly comes back down and the signal has to be manually turned off

what signal has to be manually turned off? yes what?

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
Normally after it sits all night, you start it up and it doesn't smoke
Expert:  Steve replied 5 months ago.

what about letting it idle then pressing the accelerator down? does that smoke?

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
This is something new with the drive control warning. I was sitting in the car with the ac on. Then I turned the ac off and the car after about 5 seconds begin to rev up to about 1500 rpms
Customer: replied 5 months ago.
It has to sit and run for a few minutes before it starts smoking

I need to know the answer to a very specific question. If you let it run at idle, then press the accelerator, does it then smoke?

Customer: replied 5 months ago.
Okay, I just finished setting in the car for 5 mind with it off. Turned it on and it didn't smoke and the malfunction light didn't come on. Now if I let it run for a few minutes in idle, it will smoke.

I will provide an honest answer. I trust this will be appreciated. Please remember that a low rating PUNISHES me for being honest and that I receive nothing for my time until a positive rating is clicked.

.

thank you for your attention to the rating requirement.

.

the smoke is being caused by leaking valve seals

this is VERY common on this model.

this is a huge job to fix and requires professional equipment and training. A 30 hour job when done right.

as for the drive malfunction, you will need to have the fault logs read from the car with a BMW scan tool to verify the cause, but based on what you've describved it sounds like you have a fialed steering angle sensor or steering column switch cluster which houses the sensor.

.

sorry if you were hoping for a different answer, but I trust that my honesty and quick response is appreciated.

.

Please let me know if you have further questions. Please do not forget to click a positive rating as this is the only way I receive credit for my answer, thank you. Best wishes with your vehicle.
