Customer Question

I just bought a 2007 BMW X3 with 114k miles and it has run great up until last night I started it and noticed the idle was kind of rough and shortly thereafter service engine soon light came on.
JA: Sometimes things that you think will be really complicated end up being easy to fix with a BMW. The BMW Mechanic I'm going to connect you with knows all the tricks and shortcuts. Tell me a bit more about what's going on so he can help you best.
Customer: I havent driven it since yesterday and have not done any investigating yet.
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself?
Customer: Yes. This is my 1st BMW but I've worked on Acura, Honda, Nissan, Infinity, etc.
JA: Great! What have you tried so far?
Customer: I have not tried anything yet.
JA: Is there anything else the BMW Mechanic should be aware of about your BMW?
Customer: No. It seems to be a great vehicle.
JA: OK. Got it. I'm sending you to a secure page on JustAnswer where you can place your fully refundable $5 deposit (plus $13 after the BMW Mechanic responds). While you're filling out that form, I'll tell the BMW Mechanic about your situation and connect you two.

No. I have not done anything yet.

Sounds like a misfire, Ignition coils are common failure on your vehicle. But to be sure you will need to read out the fault memory.

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
Ok. I will take it to Auto zone to have it coded.
