Customer Question

The oil cap on my BMW 530xi was cracked so I purchased a replacement but can't figure out how to remove the base of the old cap to install new cap. I am reluctant to just pry it off with a screw driver but don't seem to see any other way.

Hello, my name is***** you for the question. I typically slowly drill a hole in it and use a coarse bolt with reverse threads to screw it into it and remove it. This is not always available. Prying it can damage the cover so you may want to weaken it by drilling some holes on the ends of it. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need further assistance.
