The back hatch door on my 2011 Mini Countryman is stuck and

Customer Question

The back hatch door on my 2011 Mini Countryman is stuck and I can't get it to open. There was a bed sheet in the back which got stuck in the lock and now I can't open the hatch. The inside light in the hatch is still on and I'm afraid I'm going to drain the battery if I let it sit all night. What can I do to release the hatch lock?

HI,
I am sorry that you have not been helped yet. I just came online and saw your question
The only way I know is to pull the interior trim panel to access the lock and actuator disconnect them and open the hatch, but most of the time this will damage the trim panel when removing it with the hatch closed
