Hi there,

You need to check the oil pressure at idle with a master gauge.

I know one make of car where we had to rerun the oil pressure wire away from other sources of EMI.

The instrument cluster thought the switch was operated, very sensitive.

It will be quite clear which way to go, after you have checked the pressure.

Ordered European adapters for my master oil/ trans pressure set. Will be in 4 pm Monday. So I need to do that for sure. To rule out base engine problem. Then I'll get back with results. Says light on at .5 bar(7.38lbs). Should be 4.0 bar( 58lbs) cold. I'll let you know asap

Hi there,

I fully agree with what you are doing.

I think we both know there is a problem with the engine.

I'd like 20 psi hot idle, 60 psi hot at 2000 rpm.

Installed gauge. Spec .5 bar 7.3 lbs max 4.0 bar. 58 lbs. cold idle 55psi at 2500 60psi. Hot idle 14 hot 2500 44. Drove 30 minutes cruise 30psi hot idle in gear 12.5 psi at 650 rpm. Engine ok. All data shows pin 1 at oil pressure sensor br/gn to pin 16 at dme module (a6000) connector x60005. But that connector shows black 9 pin connector only. Can you verify which connector and if I should run new wire to the dme?

Hi again,

I'd agree, the engine seems fine.

Could be a poor crimp or female terminal contact in the wiring for the oil pressure sensor.

At this point, I will opt out and get a BMW tech to talk to you.
