335i: 2009 BMW 335i Convertible: I need to replace the shoulder

Customer Question

2009 BMW 335i Convertible:
I need to replace the shoulder harness belt on my driver's side bucket seat.
There is a blue plug connector attached at the reel behind the back cover.
I am unsure its purpose. There is a rigid cable leading from the blue connector. It seem to have a cable inside or wiring.
I am told if I remove the connector I will deploy the air bags. Is this true?

you need to unhook the car's main battery first

then there is no risk of any airbag deploying and you can proceed with your repair disconnecting anything you would like

Any procedure for reconnecting the battery?

nothing special, you just disconnect and reconnect. you only need to do the negative terminal, not the positive
