Hello. Where are you?
Expert:  Steve replied 1 year ago.
this light means this:full engine power no longer available. you can continue your journey, but moderate your speed and exercise due caution. Have the engine checked as soon as possible.
Expert:  Steve replied 1 year ago.
this warning is not specific. it only serves to inform the driver that a fault has been recognized by the engine management systemalthough this light is not specific, the car will log in its computer memory more specific details of the underlying trigger
Expert:  Steve replied 1 year ago.
thus, the underlying cause can be determined by having the computer faults read out with a bmw/mini scan tool. this is the only next step at this time.
Expert:  Steve replied 1 year ago.
the most common causes are a fuel pump or fuel system related failure, but again, the faults must be read out to verify

if you would like to avoid the dealer, you can look for non dealer specialists on www.bimmershops.com or www.bimrs.org
